 | When Potted Gardens opened on a little tiny street at the edge of the West Village, I really thought no one would ever find me. My intention was to sell potted flowering plants to the garden-deprived residents of New York. Of course, I opened the last week in November and not much was blooming, so I substituted with cut flowers. My first day in business I sold every last stem in the store. The second day I ran out at noon and by the end of the week I was getting flower orders by phone. I hadn't intended to open a flower shop, but sometimes seeds sprout without much nourishment. Eight years later, we enthusiastically embrace our most creative and "flourishing" side of the business -- the floral. With a tradition planted firmly in gardening, our floral arrangements evoke a fresh, seasonal and a just-picked feel. Daily trips to what is arguably the best floral market in the world provide us with a spectacular variety of flora and fauna. We specialize in low, loose, arrangements gathered in a galvanized bucket, cut glass, or glazed pot. We recommend a tight color palette reminiscent of our favorite perennial garden.
